Q. What tools are required?
Minimum: Electric Drill, Jig Saw, Tape Measure
Q. How long will it take to build? A. It will take 2 people about 2 days. Many customers often build it in a day.
Q. Could I substitute a 2" metal pipe for the coping instead of the PVC?
A. Each has their pros & cons. Plastic is quiet, slick and easy to cut. Metal is noisy and can get very hot in the summer, but it is stronger. It's just a matter of personal preference.
Q. Can I use nails?
A. Not recommended. They often work their way out and can give you a nasty flesh wound.
Q. Is the surface masonite?
A. We use masonite because it's easy to find in stores and it's inexpensive. It also works well.
Q. I am about to finally build the ramp and am wondering if I can use drywall screws instead of wood screws. Is there an advantage either way?
A. No, do not use drywall screws. The problem with drywall screws is that the metal is very weak and the heads will snap off. Stick with wood screws.
